Any SEAL / EOD Officers here? Or any hoping to pursue this route? If so, what drove you to choose such a rigorous and competitive path?

I do know some things about those positions, but not much. I'm sure you could maybe DM somebody like Dom Raso or Jocko Willink on a social media platform.

Long shot but try DMing (or getting in contact with) Leif Babin or Stew Smith on Instagram. Both went the SpecWar route and ended up as seal officers..

I think most officers or enlisted take that route successfully, precisely because it is rigorous and competitive, not because they read Rob O’Neill’s book or watched American Sniper. It’s a self-challenge that never stops.

This is an observation of someone who is nearing the end of qualification for SOF in another service branch. I spoke to him four days ago and he told me that 5 members of his team quit during the current phase, after 10 mos., but only 6 weeks short of graduation.

Same young man was the smallest, weakest, least coordinated male of his age group through puberty. He was kicked off his hockey team and received more than one in school suspensions for fighting. He didn’t win a single one of those fights.
