So I know 24 men were selected for SpecWar for the class of 2008, but does anyone know if this number will go up because of the need and order to increase the SEAL's force? There are several articles pointing to the possibility of two new SEAL teams - would any of this increase the numbers graduating from USNA to go to BUD/s?

Thanks!

There's no way to answer that. Service selection options are always based on the "needs of the Navy" or USMC at the time and they can vary year by year or due to overall changes in force management.

For example, the number of mids allowed to select USMC has steadily increased over the past few years and this trend is expected to continue.

The logic is fair and would seem resonable but that doesn't always mean anything. I have a different question, I've seen numbers (not on the USNA page so accuracy??) of 1-2 women selecting special operations for service. What is the job(s) that they are selecting/applying for?

I'm pretty sure it's EOD. Women can only get into that and diver I believe, but you can't select diver from the academy if I remember correctly. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Shishka you're correct; women can go into EOD. 9 weeks of EOD school is at dive school in Panama City, Florida so graduates from the Academy who go EOD do get EOD Diver qualified. This includes both SCUBA and rebreather. I know that there Dive Officers who wear the Navy Diver breast insignia so I would think that you could select diver albeit not many can do this. I'm not 100% sure so I would ask your BGO if you want to be a diver.
