Hey I'm a junior who will eventually be applying for USMA when the time slots open for me. I have a friend who's gone through the Split Ops and it's starting to interest me, but I have parents who are definitely NOT for the idea of split ops even with the experience it brings.

I'm wondering if this has any benefits for my application process. Does anyone know if it would help my file or no?

...basic rundown of split ops if you aren't familiar with it - Enlist into the Guard at 17 and go to basic the summer between your junior and senior year of HS.

Thanks,

Lots of older threads on the topic of enlisting as a route to WP. It is not the recommended path with no guarantees about an appointment to WP.

I am currently a senior in high school going through the split option program. I completed my BCT this past summer. This is a great program and offers many benefits. However, I would not use it as a means to get into USMA West Point. With that being said, I have applied to USMA West Point, as well as several other colleges and am awaiting decisions. Good luck and keep your options open.
