When I was visiting Annapolis 3 years ago, had lunch at the Severn Inn (75 degrees on the patio in February!). There was an older gentlemen there, we got to talking, he is a sponsor. He gave me his name and number and said to consider him as a sponsor if and when our DS earns an appointment. Having read @Capt MJ comments about their home, I am sure our son would need a household with wagging tails and wet noses. Our marathon isn't over by far but staying optimistic and it is awesome knowing there are sponsors like this out there.

I just returned from a visit to a Navy home port where I attended a much-beloved sponsor alumni’s outgoing change of command ceremony on a sleek warship. I was bonged aboard (admit that still feels good) and soaked up the pleasures of the day watching one of the most revered ceremonies in the Navy. We are equally enriched by the relationship.

Our boxers have sponsored many mids over the years. Nap companions, tug of war partners, walking buddies, snugglers - very experienced at welcoming plebes and general pastoral care of midshipmen.

I think there is a block on the mid app for pets/no pets.

The reunions at the door when grads return to visit are explosive.
