Can anyone let me know about sprint football? I know there is a weight limit of like 170 pounds and they play five games against other colleges but I would like to know about try outs and making the team and all. I have always wanted to play football but never could because I was never big enough to play. Now is my chance to have some fun playing with guys around my size hopefully

I hope someone else with better information than will respond but I will tell you that sprint football (formerly 150 pound football) is extremely fast and hard-hitting and a lot of fun to watch. It's a perfect sport for athletic aggressive cadets who aren't big enough for D-1 football. I think you'll really enjoy it! Congratulations on your appointment!

If you go to www.GoArmySports.com, you will be able to find information on the Sprint Football league. There are schedules, rosters, and even recruitment forms you can submit.

Hope this helps...best wishes!

I'll be playing on the Sprint Team next year for Army. I was recruited out of High School, so I'm still not sure about the walk-on process. If you are going to West Point next year, I'd get in touch with the coach and tell him you are interested in playing and what you need to do.

I have a friend who is on the sprint football team right now. He will be a cow next year and is more than happy to talk if you're interested in sprint football. Drop me a PM if you want his name and facebook info.

That would be awesome. Yeah I am definitely not going to be recruited lol but I would love just to try out just to see

DS played Sprint FB. The way it worked then (2 years ago) was that they had a time during Beast that you could try out for different teams.
With Sprint, they had cuts all along until the week before the first game as there was a limit on how many could be on the team. Since there is a weight limit, they had weigh ins a few days before each game.
It was a good experience and allowed him as a Plebe to get off post on weekends!

My DS just received his appointment. He played football all through high school but at 165 he is built more for sprint. How did your DS feel about playing a sport with the academic load? We have encouraged our DS to get through plebe year before trying out for sports to evaluate the academic load. I would love to hear what pros and cons your DS experienced playing as a plebe.
