How competitive is it to make the Sprint Football team at West Point? As an incoming plebe, I am interested in trying out; however, I have never played organized tackle football before. I played years of flag football (which is obviously a very different game), but I definitely have basic football skills and fundamental athleticism. If anyone has had any experience with the team or has some general knowledge on the competitiveness of making the roster, I would love to hear from you.

DS '21 walked on but played HS for 4 years. There were a fair number of cuts for walk on tryouts so it is fairly competitive. But why not try if you want? You will wind up in company athletics if you don't or do and get cut. Don't be discouraged. Nice perk as a plebe to get 4 road trips 1st semester, last year they went to Mexico for a goodwill game also.

Not hard at all. A few buddies told me they walked on no problem. I emailed Coach West and he told me to try out in the summer after seeing a highlight tape.

Does Sprint Football recruit players? If so, is it similar to other sports in which appointment criteria may be lower for recruited athletes?
