Squadron Assignments

Hello everyone!

This may have been asked already, but after some searching, I could not find an answer.

How are squadrons assigned? I know at VMI for example, companies are assigned by height. How is it done at USAFA?

Well, it is not by height. Take a look at any pictures of previous years and you will see a vast difference in height among the group.

No idea but I would speculate that they want each unit to reflect the overall class including demographics and aptitude as much as possible.

Then again maybe they just picks teams like we did on the playground way back when . . . or like the NFL draft which is pretty much the exact same thing.

Not sure when the Academy will announce them this year, but last year, they notified appointees of their squadron assignments about 2 weeks before I-Day.
