My son will be applying for class of 2028. We decided to skip SS to attend the wresting camp to meet the coaches. My son is ranked #3 in the state in NC and is a borderline D1 recruit. We switched at last minute because of his wrestling coaches recommendations-one of his coaches use to coach at the naval academy. We live on the east coast and could only attend one. Good choice to attend the intensive sports program camp? Also wanted to hear from athletes who did this to introduce themselves to coaches-Is it worth it?

If you know any cadets, you can visit the overnight visit thread, in my opinion, that makes up for a decent portion of the Summer Seminar programming, but is subject to you knowing a cadet.

Wrestling camp! He will still get to experience the academy as well as get a good look at D1 wrestling, figure out what wrestling looks like at USAFA, and be on the coach's radar. SS doesn't have any impact on his application.

I agree with T-37IP. I recommend the summer sports camps to all of my students. Many have participated in them across all of the SAs, including the USAFA wrestling camp last summer. All enjoyed the experience and learned more about their sport, too. Students stay in the dorms, eat in the mess hall, meet cadets and staff, and they also work with the coaching staff, which will especially interest your son. I hope he has a great time there!

Thanks. Surely feels like we made the right choice. His sister is a 2026er and will actually be staying in the freshman dorms near her!

Have you considered wrestling freestyle/greco and trying to make your state team. Wrestling at Fargo really helped my son get D1 looks.

We are at the High School national championships this weekend in Virginia Beach! I know the big three are NHSCA, Fargo and Super 32. We are doing Super 32 and NHSCA. Fargo is just too hard get to. He is probably more of a D3 recruit but he wants the USAFA so we have to up our levels! He wants to start but is realistic and would love just to be on the team!

I hope your son did well at Virginia Beach. He could also get on a dual team for NHSCA duals. Fargo is a unique experience. If there is any way your son can go, it is worth it!

I think it’s a great choose. Maybe he can take an admissions tour while he’s there. Doesn’t hurt to ask.

He didn't place at NHSCA but yes we are going duals at the end of May. Fargo is just to expensive and to much time. Believe me we have looked at trying to go but I just cant justify it with everything else going on this year. Thanks for the well wishes! We are excited about the June 12-16 camp at USAFA!
