Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing well. I was DQed by DODMERB on feb 22nd and my portal has said "stand by for regional commander to determine if USMA will request a waiver". I was just wondering if anyone knows how long it will take for the RC to decide whether or not I will get a waiver requested or not. So far my file is 100% complete with a nomination and Im not sure what I should do at this point besides to wait If anyone has info that would be very helpful. Thanks

I was in the same situation as you a couple of months ago. I called my RC shortly thereafter. He basically said that if your file is "competitive for an offer of appointment" then he will initiate the waiver request. As for a time frame that would have to be a question for your RC to answer. Nothing is needed on besides possibly adding to your application and touching base with your RC. I have had a granted waiver for some time, patience is a virtue! Hope this helps!!

Wow okay I can't read apparently... sorry. Since you have a nom and are 3Q'd that is usually what deems a candidate "competitive" to my understanding. It may just be a matter of everything going crazy in the admissions office right now.

If the RC deems your file to be "competitive" for admission relative to the slates you are competing on or so strong that you compete well against the typical NWL cutoff, they will initiate a waiver request. You can reach out to your RC and ask them if they intend to request a waiver. They may or may not tell you at this point but it does not hurt to ask.

If your file is clearly competitive, the waiver will be requested no matter what you do. If your file is clearly not competitive, the waiver will not be requested despite any efforts on your part.

Never underestimate the human factor. If your file falls in a gray area, respectful efforts on your part may tip the scale in your favor. Send an email asking for feedback and expressing your desire to become a cadet and officer.
