My S25 has a childhood history of viral induced asthma (outgrown). His last dr visit related to breathing issues was at around age 7. We filled an inhaler prescription about once a year for emergencies(last filled around age 14 but never used). He used it occasionally when he joined cross country at age 12 and began running (he did not realize that his out of breath feeling was because he was out of shape and not conditioned and was normal). He is very fit now, runs a 6 minute mile, and passed his JROTC fitness test recently wil almost a perfect score. His doctor has since examined him and written a note in his records that he does not have asthma.

I know this will be an issue and I want to be proactive.
I am planning to contact his old pediatrician (from ages 2-9) and request all records, contact the pharmacy where we used to live and our current pharmacy and request records.
Is there anything else I can or should be doing now?
Also- has anyone heard of an ibuprofen allergy being an issue?

Is his prescription still valid? An open order (whether filled or not). I would get that buttoned up.

You won’t be able to prove ‘he never used it’. It would be better to not have an active medication.

Also is he actually diagnosed with an allergy to ibuprofen (no need to answer)? Is that a diagnosed item by a medical professional? Or an observed reaction by mom? I would be careful about reporting something as xxx unless diagnosed by medical staff.

Well, it is listed as an allergy in his medical records at this point because since he was 3 years old I have answered that he has an allergy to ibuprofen when asked if he has any allergies. It has never been medically tested or diagnosed. It was an observed reaction on 3 separate occasions. So how should that question be answered when filling out the medical questions? He can honestly answer that he has never been diagnosed with that allergy. But his records will say he is allergic. He has no active prescriptions.
Also I just remembered he had allergy testing when he was around 5 years old, I have no idea who the doctor was, we moved, or what insurance we had or what the exact results were. It showed mild reaction to leaf mold and pollen, I think. He has never even taken an OTC allergy med. Every yearly childhood asthma test since 2017 has been normal. The last inhaler filled was 1 month after he turned 13 🙄. Which he promptly lost. I called for a refill over a year ago (no idea why- habit? Foggy mom brain not realizing how many years he hadn’t used it? But I never filled it)
