Starting to get Beast Supplies

I also brought a Bible and a collage of photos which were nice reminders to have, but obviously that's preference of the individual. All of my stuff fit in 2 zip lock bags so it was easy to transfer out and put my boots in the flight bag as well.


Recommended items that you'll definitly want, but you can wait to get at the C-store
Moleskin
Any kind of extra socks
Foot powder
Baby wipes
Basic cleaning supplies
Lighter

You'll go often enough that getting them there will save you a lot of hassle that you won't have to carry this stuff on R-day. The less stuff you have to worry about, the easier it will be on you in the long run to organize all the stuff you are issued and see what you actually need. You won't need as much as you really think you do now, and your buddies and you will share to make up for what each other is lacking.

Are Icy-hot/ mineral ice sticks allowed at beast?

Pro's- You will have boots you like, rather than the 2nd issue set that (apparently) very few wear. Which you pay for, by the way.

Con's- You'll have to lug them around on R-day, transfer them, etc

If you bring a 2nd pair of boots, supposedly they deduct the amount they'd normally charge for the 2nd pair.

On low quarters your BEAST shoes will likely become your "work" shoes, and the 2nd pair you are issued your inspection shoes never to be worn

Most advise bringing your fav set. If you just have to have the other pair, have them shipped in or parent bring them A-week

Like Dixieland said, no. If something is hurting your chain of command needs to know so they can take care of it. Its the same reason you aren't allowed to bring ANY medication, including stuff like motrin and you are supposed to get it from the medic. They don't want you trying to fighting through something without telling anyone that might actually be a serious injury

So to clarify, you are allowed to bring two pairs of boots on R-Day and decline paying for the issued ones?
 
Yea, what hawk is saying though is sometimes they charge you anyways. You'll have to make sure that when they show you the hand receipts of everything you were "issued" that they actually match up so your account doesn't get charged for things you never received. I had to work through that since I never got a second pair of low quarters issued
