My son just received a nomination from his representative in District11 New Jersey. I have read that NJ is among the most competitive states with his district being the most competitive in NJ districts. Bummer! Do you know where I can get a state by state breakdown of the incoming class from previous years ? Also he is finishing his Sophomore year at college with straight A's . With other areas of his chart being in line with other applicants( PT assessment etc) does the college performance give him an added edge over high school Seniors that are also applying, since it shows that he can excel at the college level?

I have seen posts elsewhere that showed NJ has about 50 cadets in each entering class. I do vaguely recall seeing a map that showed the breakdown by state with Calif. and Texas having double-digit cadets in each class and many states only having single-digit cadets entering each year.

Im not sure about WP, however, generally, if a person takes similar core courses (as they would 4C year at a SA), yes it can help. It demonstrates they can succeed/handle that level of course. If they took easy courses...it probably will not help. So it depends on what the A's were in. STEM would be best.
