I had a phone interview with Senator Harris' office on 12/15/18.
That's great. I am sure your interview went well. Wish you the best. Our DS has not heard anything yet from senator Feinstein.
@trepei, Which district are you from? I am wondering if Feinstein and Harris coordinate/splits noms for southern and northern CA - may be...

Hawaii:
DS received USNA nominations from Congresswowan Hanabusa (plans to deny) and Senator Mazie Hirono (plans to deny)
DS received USAF nomination from Senator Brian Schatz

I am always interested in how different elected officials work their nom processes and decisions.

First, congratulations to your DS!

Second, was your DS asked if he would accept or decline the USNA nomination? Did he apply to USNA? I have seen over the years where noms get offered to candidates who had neither applied nor indicated interest in a specific SA, and think that often presents a dilemma.

If USAFA is your DS’ sole focus, let’s hope an appointment follows within the next few months.

DS was asked to list his SA priorities. He listed USAF as his first choice and USNA as his second choice during all interviews.
During the interviews, he stated that he would emphatically accept the USAF nomination but USNA appointment would be "questionable".
As he continued research (and discussions with me) he decided that he has no interest in USNA because he does not want to be on a ship.
In Hawaii, I believe all MOC use the "competitive" submission method where they provide 10 nominations to the SA for each opening. I do not believe they offer any "Principle" nominees.
He plans to contact the representatives and inform them that he has no intest in accepting the USNA appointment, in fact, he didn't bother to finish the USNA application.
He is also sending paperwork in today for Presidential Nomination.

Thank you for the insight. Good that he is eligible for a Presidential, as it gives USAFA more flexibility.
The elected officials’ slates may already have been forwarded to the SAs. After re-reading your posts, I was able to understand your DS is not declining a USNA appointment to the elected officials but rather intends to indicate he has no need of the nomination he was given. USNA will figure it out when they see an incomplete application and a nom.
I hope his dream comes true, and I am glad he was able to figure a life involving sea-based operations was not a good fit for him! Great example of looking past the SA to actual career paths as decision factors.

Nominations have posted from Ohio congressman after being nominated 12/3. Son hasn't received a letter from Senator Portman but would highly doubt another nomination would happen since he received one from Senator Brown.

I hope so... Thank you!! I am from the 33rd district (SoCal).
I haven't heard anything about noms splitting or coordinating, but that's an interesting idea

Good afternoon! Excited mom in Texas here...my daughter received a call from her congressman a cpl days ago letting her know she was his Principal/Primary nominee and that she should automatically get an appointment to the USAFA as long as she passes the physical. She completed her medical portion in early November and CFA in late November and her file says complete-Does that mean she passed those, And she will be getting an appointment offer soon? Also how long will it take to receive an appt since she is their principal nominee? Does she have to wait for the normal March time when they start letting most people know? Unfortunately her ALO has not been very helpful and rarely returns emails or takes weeks to reply so any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hello, I was inquiring to see if anybody had received a nomination to West Point from either Senator Cruz or Senator Cornyn. I know several people in Texas who have LOAs or LOEs and so far nobody has received a nomination from a Texas Senator for the Class of 2023. Thanks in advance.

I do know that Senator Cruz’s noms for a USAFA have been made and letters sent out. Not sure about Cornyn though.

Received two nominations to West Point from Senator Coons and Representative Rochester, Delaware, along with one nom to Merchant Marine Academy! Not sure if Carper's noms went out.

My DD has the exact same thing. Call from rep notifying of principal nomination. It showed up in her portal a few days later, then another call from our rep about 10 days later saying she would be getting an offer of appointment. 3 or 4 days later her offer showed up on her portal.
