Has anyone heard from any Pennsylvania congressman or congresswoman -and if so -do you also Know if they communicate with senators (I know the senators usually collaborate together to avoid duplicating noms - but do they do so with a Congressmen/women as well?) DS has PA senators nom & presidential nom, but has been in CPR since October & is hoping if he gets Congress it may jolt his application awake? The waiting is exhausting & mentally taxing 😆

Yes, and that’s like saying they should read every piece of legislation they vote on, etc. Ultimately though, whether it’s their staff doing the legwork or not, it’s the MOCs name on the dotted line and their process is their process.

I am a previous candidate from last year who did not reapply, but I can tell you what my experience was. I got nominations in PA-06 and I do know that they were going to change the ranked order of candidates based on the nominations of both senators if a candidate in PA-06 got a nomination from Toomey or Casey. I would imagine that this depends on the procedures of the congressman/congresswomen and their staff. One of my friends who is a senior now got nominations from all three state nomination sources he applied for (Toomey, Casey, and his Congresswomen) and was not told anything about not receiving a nomination if he got one from elsewhere. Congratulations to your son on those nominations, getting a senator’s nomination in PA is very tough due to the competitive nature of the state. Stay patient with the wait. I waited for 5 months to get rejected from USNA but recieved an appointment to USMMA and a NROTC scholarship in the meantime, and a USMA appointment after the rejection. It is large part of military life that you have to get used to.

Thank you so much for the reply & info! I’m sorry to hear about the USNA rejection but so glad you are heading forward with USMA & congrats on all the achievements.

Your welcome! I actually declined my USMA appointment and currently attend an SMC on a NROTC scholarship. It would have been great going to USNA but I really enjoy it here!

I’m not sure if they communicate but I received a nomination from my congressman as well as from Senator Casey last week so it is possible.
Btw - did Casey nom post in your portal yet? - DS has one in portal from senator but it’s not identified as either Casey or Toomey - just a number 1 next to it.

Our son got Toomey's nom in his USMA portal designated by PA-61
Hi- did it say senator In nom source and PA61 in state box ? We are perplexed- DS ‘s says senator 1 in nom box & just PA in state -
Congratulations to your son !! My son said Toomeys committee was tougher ( he thought ) than Casey’s.

So I know that PA is very competitive for Senatorial noms. I have both PA Senatorial noms to USNA, with one being a Principal from Senator Pat Toomey (PA). I also have a nomination from Senator Bob Casey (PA) to USNA, as well as my Congressional district nom. Additionally, I have a NJROTC nomination. My Congresswoman and Senator Bob Casey did not do principal noms. How often is it that someone has 4 nominations, yet doesn’t get appointed?

For USMA, there is no designation like nom source or state (as far as we could tell). The portal just has a "2024 nomination code" and DS's is PA61. We did not apply for Casey's...logistics :( Son didn't think Toomey's committee was tough, but our son's likely interviewed with a different group. My son recalled that USNA candidates went with one group and he (USMA) went with another. Honestly, we thought our best chance for a nom would be with Congressman, but he hasn't heard anything from him yet (yay or nay).

Good luck while waiting for Congressman!

I heard from a friend that his DS received nominations to both USNA and USMA in a competitive PA District. I was surprised because I thought PA Senators/MOCs talked.
