Hi there
DS has been admitted to VMI and Citadel as well as a few state schools. He is applying for the ROTC scholarship, however more than likely will only be reviewed by the third board. Everything is turned in, he has not been able to get the officer who does the interviews to get back with him, I think the due date for the second board is the 28th, so the second board is a long shot. He maxed out the fitness test for ROTC and passed the USMA fitness test with no issues. He has also had his physical and per the doc it went fine but waiting for that to get loaded in the system. He just got a new set of ACT scores Math 28, Science 30, Reading 33, English 36 for a score of 32.
Grades are about a 3.4 ( may be higher after this semester grades not in yet ) . His school does not rank because it is academically advanced. All classes at the school are honors or AP no non honors and out of 100 boys graduating 13 of them are national merit semifinalists or commended ( this is why they do not rank ) They also do not over inflate GPAs. He has taken honors accelerated and some AP classes. His field officer told him that they do consider the school and that his is held in high regard, but who knows ?
Extra curricular Eagle Scout and earned Palms after, JR Scout leader after Eagle until he recently aged out, 4 year CC varsity with 2 year status as captain, track distance runner 4 years Captain for distance 2 years, four years of state level competing for CC, Congressional intern, life guard, ambassador for school ( gives tours ) , played guitar in praise band in church.
He has also secured a nomination from MOC for USMA and USAFA.
This all seems to be such a crap shoot and I am sure it matters what district you are in.
He is hoping for an appointment to USMA or USAFA, the ROTC scholarship would be awesome to help with the VMI and/or Citadel as he is out of state for those.
Just wondering about thoughts about his stats. We did get the TWE asking for 7th semester grades ( they come out tomorrow ).
Any input appreciated.
