My son was offered a campus stem scholarship for AROTC. He completed his physical and eye exam last Wed and Thurs. His account status with Concorde is complete-hold. He has called and they told him they are waiting on additional paperwork from the dr. They also indicated that he should just wait because of the high demand at this time. Does anyone know how long this may take? I'm worried he won't be as to get confirmation of his scholarship in time to confirm his enrollment.

Is the scholarship for the upcoming fall 2014-Spring 2015 academic year?

Yes. He was offered the scholarship in June. Classes have to be confirmed on Aug 13th.

This is our first time on the roller coaster, but maybe knowing DS' timeline will help....

Late November 2013: apply to USMMA
Mid December 2013: medical exam for DoDMERB
Early January 2014: exam sent to DoDMERB
Mid January: Exam Reviewed at DoDMERB and DQ letter sent the next day
February 2014: Receive congressional nom to USMMA
Mid February 2014: send medical records to DoDMERB to support request for medical waiver (USMMA) and then waiver is denied by USMMA
Late March 2014: Receive AROTC scholarship
Early April 2014: Accept AROTC scholarship
Mid April 2014: DQ letter sent (AROTC)
Late April 2014: Additional medical records and letter from coaches sent to DoDMERB in support of medical waiver request (AROTC)

We are still waiting on the waiver request for AROTC. Fingers crossed.

FWIW, it seems that DoDMERB was pretty quick at getting the initial letter out re: DQ or Qualified after the medical exam. The portal showed when the medical exam was reviewed, and the letter went out within 7 days of that date.

Good luck.

Thanks. I'm concerned because our timeline is so tight.

My son had a similar timeline... He was a congressional appointee and received an AROTC scholarship (2013).

In the middle of all of this, he had an ear ache... that turned into major ear surgery for a rare defect in his ear canal. DODMERB DQed him and USMA failed to waiver (Surgery was during last 1/2 of his senior year).

After his surgery and follow ups, all paperwork was sent to DODMERB and we waited months for AROTC to waiver. He participated in ROTC during this time. After 6 months or so his wavier was denied.

Hired a consultant, got a 2nd opinion... sent in more documentation on him being fit to serve... Waiver came in two weeks.

There is just no way to know.

It has been 2 full weeks since the doctors first submitted his paperwork. His status is still complete-hold. I hope it changes fast!

DD had this same situation last winter. We waited and waited and waited....... Finally, I had DD call Concorde. She was told that they had received the physical form from the physician, however, there were a couple of items that the Dr. had failed to complete on the form. They had sent several requests to the Dr's office requesting the information with no response. We called the Dr's office ourselves that same day and they got the Dr. to complete the missing information and send it in. It then started moving along again. Have your DS call Concorde tomorrow and they should be able to give you an update.

Everything has finally been sent I DODMERB.

Status has been updated to remedial requested, but it doesn't say what is necessary for the remedial. DS has sent an email to the help desk.
