Hi all,

I was wondering - are cadets allowed to stay on campus during breaks, including any time off they get during summer? If so, what is it like to stay on campus during a break?

Thanks in advance for any response!

Yes, is called staying in transient. During leave periods you will move to a transient barracks and just stay there for the duration of the time you are at the academy during summer, spring, thanksgiving, or winter leave. People do it all the time.

Thank you for the answer! So to clarify - you won't be able to just stay in your current barracks, and instead will move back and forth, regardless of how long/short the break is?

I believe so yes. You will completely pack out before summer and winter leave, so it won’t be too big of a deal to move around a bit n

Transient barracks, it's called. Usually done by cadets who have short time before a school or other summer activity and can't justify traveling. It's pretty relaxed, some check-ins. Good opportunity to get in better shape to prep for a school in the summer. There are other options - voluntary or involuntary stap (summer term academic program), for example.
