Son received USNA Summer STEM acceptance letter today. We are very excited.
Congrats! My son got his NASS acceptance today... good day for mail from the Navy.
For the parent of the son accepted to STEM, what state are you in?
If you dont mind me asking, what did it look like?
Just curious to find out if it looks similar to the BFE Im praying for in a few years.
also a little nervous because I heard it is mostly minorities form
under-represented states and Im white from NJ
The letter from NASS was just a single letter with an official U.S. Navy return address... and I don't know about STEM, but my son is a white male from a very competitive district in Texas and he got into NASS, so don't discount yourself before you try. Keep your grades up and stay involved in sports and your community to make your application as competitive as possible.
Heritage.....Congrats! My son is patiently waiting. I didn't know whether to expect any notifications yet, as I thought the application period ran until April 15th?
Daughter got her STEM letter today in Kansas. Third session.
DS received STEM acceptance letter today for 3rd session. We live in Florida.
Congratulations! My youngest DS also received the acceptance letter yesterday! He was assigned session two!
Anyone that was accepted to STEM attend in the past?
No, DS hasn't attended before.
The acceptance letter came in a Thin White business Envelope clearly marked Department of the Navy.
BTW, DS is not a minority.
daughter is not a minority and its her second trip.
Son is not a minority either - white male, good grades, athletics, etc. (entering 10th grade next fall). We are from the very competitive State of NJ. He previously applied the past 2 years but this is his first acceptance, so we are all that much more thrilled! Congrats to all those accepted and to those who have not been, reapply next year, that worked for us.
TWE for STEM?
Does STEM send you a letter if your not accepted or are you left hanging?
yes you should get a letter fairly soon. I think we got ours last couple years about mid to late April
My Son is American Indian and White from Mississippi...Guess we are a "shoe in". I enjoy reading this Fourm, but there are really some, rather not thought out comments made here.
Beaz....please don't be so quick to judge. USNA does use STEM as a recruitment tool, and the goal of increasing diversity CAN be part of the stem selection process. I don't think the poster who mentioned that he/she was a non-minority meant to disparage anyone who was. It's just a fact that the majority of applicants to the SA's seem to be caucasian, thus having something else to bring to the diversity table CAN be a benefit.
Congrats to your hopeful future Mid.
I was not trying to be offensive, so let me re-phrase my comment:
Almost every person I have talked to, both on this forum and in person (including my BGO) have said that USNA tries to bring in a diverse group, in order to increase kid's interest in USNA from all over the country.
If you applied for STEM you should also look into S.A.M.E Camps
Separate names with a comma.
