STEM

I was not trying to be offensive, so let me re-phrase my comment:

Almost every person I have talked to, both on this forum and in person (including my BGO) have said that USNA tries to bring in a diverse group, in order to increase kid's interest in USNA from all over the country.

I did not think your comment was offensive, I just did not think it was well thought out. If a kid who applies to the STEM program happens to be a 4.2 student, an honorable mention linebacker, an Eagle Scout, a member of the American College of Who's Who in Mathematics, and ranked 1/126 in his class, and wants to play football for.an academy ...should not think he is selected for STEM because he is Cherokee/Chickasaw and White and from Mississippi.
During his Eagle Scout Court of Honor his Godfather who is a Creek Holy Man told him " he would be a Warrior, and he would be one because of what he has achieved"
In this year of 2K12, lets look at our future based on merit.

Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted to "STEM".......most importantly know that those Midshipmen you meet this summer don't care what state you come from - they don't care if you are male or female - they don't care about your ethnicity......what they DO CARE about is you !!!

Does anyone know if all USNA STEM acceptance letters have been sent out?
My son applied but has not received notification yet.

I think that some people have gotten letters, but I have not heard anything yet either. I think the deadline is May 1st.

I just received a letter saying I was not accepted. It was dated April 26.

Am I correct to assume that if I received a rejection letter I am not on the wait-list, if such a thing exists?

My son, (rising 8th grader), applied and we haven't heard one way or the other. Should of seen something by now, right?!

That's another thing that baffles me. Application deadline was April 15. He submitted his around the first week in April. Seems like several others received acceptance letter before applications were due.

We also didn't get get any kind of email notification saying it was ever received.

Next year we'll aply in Jan I guess.

I'm also baffled at acceptances coming back before the final date for apps. Daughter said she did receive an email when she submitted her app. I think she sent her's in around the last week or so of Feb. It was a couple weeks after the window opened if I remember correctly.

Excuse me, I know absolutely nothing about STEM or NASS other than what I've read here. But it is possible that some kids get acceptances before the final due date because of the same reason it happens with ROTC scholarships. Like you, I believed that selections for scholarships came AFTER the application due date and after the separate required documents due date. That is, until I found this forum 2 or 3 months ago. I found out then that the 1st board had already passed and the 2nd board began about 10 days after my interview packet was submitted so it would not be processed in time. I was awarded a scholarship from the 3rd board, but offers had already come out from the 1st and 2nd board. It seems that the other branches have their 1st board as early as October, months before the due date. As I said earlier I do not know anything about the selection process, I just thought that this might be a reasonable explanation for why some offers were sent out early. Again it could be totally off.
