STEM

Still waiting to hear about week 1! It's funny she applied the 1st day the application was open and may be one of the last to hear. I really hope this isn't a sign of how junior to senior year is going to go! LOL
I think not taking the PSAT until this month probably didn't work in her favor but we had no control over that, her school pays for it and decides when to administer.

You can sign up for the ACT/SAT yourself and take the test any time it's offered. Most schools only offer it once during high school and usually not until midway into junior year - too late for many SA applications. Also, USNA super scores, I believe the other SA's do as well.

Actually the academy does take it into consideration that some kids haven't taken the PSAT yet. We applied the first day as well!! The decisions are based on so many factors. One being Demographics!!! Wishing you good news soon!!!

Applied the first day it opened, no word yet. My school just released my final exam schedule and it runs right through STEM. I will probably have to withdraw my possible acceptance

She's to young to take the ACT/SAT yet. Our school district gives the PSAT in 8th grade but not until this month, they take it again in 9th and 10th grade. Then we start the ACT/SAT rounds.

@seacadetmum - While I am not sure about the SAT, we were able to have my daughter take the ACT in both 8th and 9th grades. After watching her older sister take it multiple times junior and senior years, she wanted to take it at least once a year, both for the practice and to have the scores to send to USNA. We didn't sign up through the school but through actstudent.org

My 8th grader took the ACT to maintain his eligibility in the Johns Hopkins CTY program. And because his scores also qualified him for Duke TIP he was accepted into that program as well. You just sign up on your own through the ACT website. He plans to take the SAT this fall, just for kicks. (Weirdo.) You don’t have to send the scores anywhere, but it is great exposure to the standardized test taking experience with absolutely no pressure!

No news about STEM yet.
