I'm both confused and very worried that I am still boarded after the second round. I felt that my GPA and ACT scores were quite strong, but now I'm starting to second guess myself. I got a 31 composite on ACT and have a 3.6 GPA. Am I not competitive enough?

DD got 4-year on this second board. Her un-weighted GPA is a 3.74 (weighted 4.3) and her ACT composite is a 29. Since so much goes into the selection process, like leadership, athletics, extracurricular, PFT, interview and survey, it is hard to compare just based on GPA and test scores.

Just hang tough. Boards are not scientifc. Purely subjective. No two boards are the same.

You'll go crazy trying to guess why the board decided a certain way.

Nothing you can do but wait for the third board.

Admittedly, waiting is not easy, but that's all you can do for now.

Enjoy the rest of your senior year and try not to think about it too much.

Best wishes.

hopefully i get the 3rd board.
Make sure you are taking credit for EVERY activity you have done between 9-12. I think that is where my DD picked up a lot of points. She has 6 varsity letters (3 sports), 2 years captain, JROTC commander/officer/NCO (4 years), competitive cheer and dance for 8+ years, Beta (no NHC at her school), choir, drama, foreign language club, tutoring and part-time job for 2 years lifeguarding. Point is, go back and make sure you are giving yourself every possible point. She didn't get scholarship on first board and her ROO told her to go back and make sure she wasn't shorting herself. She made some updates for things she didn't feel were important originally (silly girl) and it may have been the difference this time around. There is no magic formula (if there is they certainly will never share it) so all you can do is put the very best you forward and enjoy the next few months of being a senior!
