Our DS is patiently awaiting an update and keeping hopes high! He still shows CPR and praying for a waiver for his fractured foot that was broken August 2016. He has received a letter from his RC stating he is 2Q (qualified academically & physically) and a waiver has been requested. We are wondering are any others in the same arena at this late date?

DD has been 3Q'd since late January with 3 noms (2 Senator/ 1 Congressman) and yet here we still are.... [emoji53]

Did you mean to post this on the USNA forum?

Yes, may I ask why? Our DS was blessed to receive nominations to all 3 SA, so I posted this on all 3 forums. I hope that was ok.

No problem! CPR is not a term used with WP files, so I thought you meant to post in the USNA forum. Because the 'M' and 'N' look similar (especially to me with my old eyes), sometimes people accidentally post in the wrong forum.

It is a horrible wait. I know your pain. My DS had 2 DQ's to get waivers for and it took 6 months to get them granted. One was granted and then it took about 2 weeks to get the other one granted - which came in the last week of April. Longest 6 months ever.
What helped me was that I kept reminding myself that we would know an answer one day. It wasn't one of these questions in life where you may never know the answer. By R-day, at the latest, we would have an answer.
Technically, April 15 is deadline for waivers, but in our case, the waivers were granted 2 weeks after that. So, there was some wiggle room in the past. I don't know how tight they are with that deadline this year.
Both DoDMERB and WP have had IT issues, so that has delayed a lot of things.
Hang in there. Hopefully, you will know sooner than later. :thumb:

Thanks so much for your words of encouragement. We are keeping the FAITH and know the good Lord has a plan

May I ask when your waiver was requested or how long the process took once you were dq? Also what state are you from? Congrats and good luck
We are in Illinois. He was DQ'd 12/4/16. We completed remedial tests in February. Waiver granted last week. So about 4 months.

Congrats on the waiver! Hopefully, the appointment came shortly afterwards :)
God bless and thanks for the update!

We just received final doctor notes for our DS last DQ today. He is awaiting a waiver for his concussion from 2015. I am worried we will miss out because of how late it all happened. But I know DoDMerb did have some real issues this month & last due to storms, so maybe they will push the date out? Should we reach out to RC to find out his status?

Every candidate is always welcome to contact their RC (emphasis on 'candidate' - they do not want to hear from Mom/Dad). They don't mind being asked about status - although they may not be able to tell him much.
If the waiver is still being reviewed by the docs at WP, it is pretty much out of the hands of the RC. They have to wait for the Docs to finish the review and make their recommendation on whether to grant or deny the waiver to the Admissions Committee.

Agreed, have the candidate reach out to the RC to check on status. They are usually pretty forth coming with information if available.

That being said, and I hate to muddy the waters, but unfortunately an approved waiver is not the end of the story. Once the waiver is approved by the SA, it has to goes back to DoDMERB and they must formally "medically qualify" the candidate which may add a couple of days to the process. The exact language my DS received on his waiver letter was:

Approval of a medical waiver does not automatically make a candidate medically
qualified. You should contact DoDMERB to ensure that there are no outstanding medical
remedials that need your response. This letter is to notify you that the West Point medical
authorities and Admissions Committee have approved a medical waiver for the above
listed medical disqualifications, only. If any additional medical disqualifications occur
after this notification or are not listed above, a new medical waiver request must be
submitted on your behalf. All medical waiver requests are submitted on a case-by-case
basis.
You may want to be proactive and reach out to DoDMERB as well and make sure there is nothing else lingering. Best of luck!
