Still haven't heard

There is a MA 6 appointment on the USMA appointee thread.
Yes... DS is #2 on that USMA slate, middle of the pack on 2 senatorial slates for USMA... no appointment expected.. USAFA is DS last shot at academies this year... I have spoken to Rockets153 (USMA appointee parent)... great family... his DS has outstanding credentials, accepted prep last year... well deserved... lots of great kids will not be accepted.

I'm MA-08 with a senatorial nomination as well as congressional. I was appointed early action. Good luck to your son!

Thank you and congratulations on your appointment!! DS did early action as well... deferred to regular admissions... I think early action may have hurt his chances, being on competitive slate, he was unable to update improvements, if he had to do it again, he would have gone regular admissions from the start..

Hmm early action hurt his chances? I was deferred as well because I didn't have a nomination as of January 15th. I got my appointment the day I got my nomination (feb 5th) and was notified that I was still considered EA. I was under the impression that although deferred, anyone was still able to update their info? I did not update mine, but others I'm sure did.

I was not eligible for the early action program, but I completed everything by October. While I was unable to add last second items, I don't feel like that would make or break an application. Your son made the right decision to apply early... don't second guess yourself!

I'm wondering what the word released means next to the date at the bottom of my DS portal. She emailed her counselor last week with some questions and her counselor stated she is probably not competitive enough for direct appointment but will be considered for Prep Academy. She also said to continue with plan B cause you can always change if you get a spot at prep academy.
We will continue to waite and pray for the Prep Academy. I know the Waite will end sooner than later.....regardless.

My assumption is that the word 'released' could mean the last time a person's application was viewed or updated. However, I would not be surprised if I am wrong.

I hope you receive favorable news! If I was young enough, I would want to go through the Prep School first.

Hurt his chances is probably the wrong wording. Nomination came in Dec 26, deferral followed early January. DS retook CFA due to basket ball throw not making the cut at USMA... USAFA admissions said he could not update his new results, but his CFA score had qualified for USAFA. Do you get any extra points for early action? If so it is probably a wash...

Best of Luck...

Once the CFA is in you cannot change it unless the admissions board deems it necessary to do so. And you don't get extra points per say, you do however get looked at in a better light by the board since you got your app in early. (That was mentioned in the deferral letter I believe)

Our ALO laughed about the basketball throw. She said that USAFA didn't worry about that too much as there was not much cause to throw a grenade in the air force!

I was EA deferred (now appointed) and I was able to add track to my application sometime in February. I'm sure I was not the only person doing this.

Apparently, the release date at the bottom of the portal is the release date of the software (v2 = version 2) - not updates to portals.

I know the Academy is on spring break, but can we expect more appointments to roll out Thursday?

That is what I am expecting. Someone on this forum suggested that there would be about 1200 appointees to the Class of 2018. If the Class of 2018 repeats the pattern set by the Official Class of 2017 thread (an additional wave of appointments later in March), quite a few of our DSs and DDs are going to hear some really good news in the next day or two.

Keeping my fingers crossed and prayers said!

I've been curious. Admissions often says candidates will know by early April, so it's still possible that the majority of us may have to wait another week, though I'd really rather not.

A heard of a few portals being updated today. But, not the influx on here that it was last week. What does this mean though for us still waiting? Will tomorrow bring a flood of appointments?

whos excited for 4 am tomorrow

Pulling myself out of bed at 6 a.m. tomorrow to workout might be easier than usual. Now hopefully there will be some news to give some extra motivation through that workout...
