Still Waiting for NROTC

We never heard word one from the Navy after dealing with the NROTC recruiter. He also told us that our daughters package was very strong and told us that last year, 75% of all his applicants received scholarships. I'm not even sure how to check our status with the Navy, I'll have to ask my daughter when she gets home later. I'm not even sure she applied to any of the colleges on her NROTC list anyway.

For comparisons sake, with the Army ROTC program, we had PMS officers calling us a week after we turned our scholarship package in. The 1st one that called from Montana State point blank told our daughter that she would get a scholarship. In the end, he was right but his school not on our list (which was fine since we had options we liked better). We have already returned our acceptance notification to one college and the PMS from another college is still calling us.

Good luck to all of you still waiting!!

I'm so sorry for those of you who were told you didn't receive a scholarship.

We've moved onto the detailed "No decision has been made on your application." page, with his college choices and whatnot.

So really, we've just moved to a different type of waiting, I guess. (Kind of like moving from the waiting room to putting on the paper gown, eh?)

We've been on this page since November. Nothing has changed since... not even the ACT/SAT scores which were sent in December.

If I were you, I'd call. It took about a week but we definitely saw my d's scores change when we sent in her ACT scores to her recruiter.

We've been looking at the "no decision has been made on your application" since Fall. Today my son received his rejection letter from NROTC.

Hopefully we hear better news from the Naval Academy...

So sorry that you received this bad news but sounds as though he has many good options. Did your scholarship status page not reflect he wouldnt be getting a scholarship because a few parents/ applicants have posted in the last few days their page was showing a scholarship wouldnt be offered.

I am sorry to hear your son did not receive a scholarship. I am afraid to go home and check my mail today. Good Luck on the Naval Academy

When I checked Thursday or Friday is was still saying "No decision has been made..." Today when I looked it said he had been turned down.

He was pretty bummed when he found out. He's talked military for years (my husband is retired Navy). I'm definitely thankful we have options! He has a nomination to the Naval Academy and received a letter from them last week saying that he's still in the running for an appointment. He has received one full-ride from a school in Louisiana and several full-tuition scholarships.

He's a great kid and will do great things wherever he ends up, so all will be ok in the end. If the Naval Academy doesn't work out he'll just do OCS after graduation from college.

Sounds like he has good plans in place. Also, I would think he could join the NROTC at the college he decides to attend it they have it. If my son doesnt end up with a scholarship that option isnt available his 1st year because the school he will attend doesnt have it.

thats what I am doing. I have started taking classes for the program already. If by some unfortunate chance I dont get selected I am just going to sign the paper work. lol I would really like the scholarship though ;)
