Still Waiting

Curious, my DS application status (HOLD) info posts the SAT score as verbal-34 and math-35.5. Any understanding or explanation why it is these numbers? Do they transfer the numbers to a ACT comparison? Does everyone have the score as such?

That’s your SAT score. I believe the SAT is on a 40 point scale. Not a conversion of the ACT. Hope that make sense. You can look at a break down of your SAT score on college board.

I am on hold and still waiting to hear back from USMMA but I was told that I won't hear back until after May 1. This is an issue because I need to make a $400 deposit to Mass Maritime (my 2nd choice where I got accepted already). Is anyone else in the same position/have a solution? I don't want to commit to Mass Maritime and then get accepted to USMMA. Thanks,

Pay the deposit. Small price to pay if you get an offer at Kings Point. Some schools will refund your deposit. Not sure about Mass Maritime.

Still on hold over here too. If my son doesn’t hear anything by May 1st, we plan on putting down a deposit at his Plan B school while continuing to wait for final word from USMMA. We’ll gladly forfeit that registration fee if he ends up getting an appointment to KP - it would be worth it

@AD2023 - My DS is in your exact same position. He has proudly sent a deposit to Mass Maritime and he is very much looking forward to being a Buc this fall. In the event things change we will cross that bridge when we come to it. Sincere best wishes.

Okay, I'm going to send my deposit ASAP. Tell your son to look into the Strategic Sealift Midshipman Program (SSMP) that Mass Maritime offers. It's an NROTC program that gives $8k/year and a commission as a Strategic Sealift officer in the Navy after graduation.

Just got word from the coach that a Prep school offer is in the mail.... Now the research and prep begins. Can't lie, I'm excited to have a few more weeks with him this summer before he has to report

Congratulations, 2023mom. I completely understand your wish for a few more precious moments with your DS. Best wishes to him!
