Stressing about ROTC Eligibility

I'm currently a Junior in High School looking to apply to ROTC in college. I'd love to be involved in the Military in the future, and the ROTC program is a perfect fit for me. My biggest interest is AROTC, and I've also looked at NROTC, and AFROTC, though I'm not feeling too well about my eligibility for the scholarship. I need the full 4 year scholarship, though I'm not sure if I'm a great candidate. Everyone I see on here has a 3.8+ GPA and is involved in tons of sports and AP classes and activities, and have close to a 30 or above ACT score. I've currently had 2 AP classes throughout High School, and plan to take 3 more my Senior year. My ACT score was only a 23, and that was the first time. I'm also in: Peer Helpers, FCCLA, FBLA, FTA (Future Teachers of Alabama) French Club, Key Club, National French Honor's Society, and I'm apart of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America for my school. I also used to run Cross Country and Track and Field, before I stopped as I preferred to work, which I do really often now. If I work towards raising my GPA getting inducted into Beta Club next year, and raise my ACT score to the 26-31 range, will I have a good chance for the AROTC 4 year scholarship? Thanks for the feedback!

You also need to add some leadership to have a real shot. President of one of those clubs. Does your job involve leadership. It's all about quality vs quantity when it comes to ECs.

Keep in mind that it is not a "one size fits all" type program. They are looking for individuals with potential and the drive to become good officers. If you can show that you have worked hard and that you are driven- then you have a fighting chance. I know as a candidate it's hard to ignore all of the fluff and accomplishments that others have received- but it's important to keep in mind that everyone has different circumstances.
Making the most out of what you have instead of comparing it to another's plate is the most important lesson I have learned through the application process. Showing initiative and the desire to serve the country is what I believe to be the key to success in the ROTC application or to any of the SA's. They're not looking for perfect cookie cutter applicants, they want hard working individuals.

Good Luck!

the only concern I have with your post is the fact that you state that you need the 4 year scholarship. A plan B is needed even if you get the 4 year scholarship incase things happen and you are no longer under scholarship. Will you have to leave the college your enrolled in because you can't afford it? I know sometimes a plan b isn't always available, but I have a lot of enlisted sailors who work for me now who were under one scholarship program or another that weren't able to finish and enlisted in the Navy to be able to pay off school debt and finish college.
