Student loans before USAFA

Hello everyone. I'm a candidate for the Academy this year and heard there's an entrance requirement of not having any "debt." Do student loans (such as FAFSA loans) fall under this category? Currently a freshman in college (prep student for USAFA at a military junior college.)

My son also had a student loan. We just stated on his entrance paperwork that we were taking care of the student loan. It was never an issue. In fact, he took over the loan once he was a 2 dig.
