How does a semester study abroad impact your scholarship? Stipend? Is this tremendous cultural experience encouraged or discouraged for those have have experience? Any insight is appreciated!

My DS did Greece his 1st semester of his freshman year and loved it, he's a Type-1 recipient and there were no issues with the scholarship, however, the AF will deposit monies a few months down the road, the university is aware of this procedure though. Also, I have to say his cadre did not express any feelings/thoughts about him studying abroad.
 
I can't speak to financial aspects but I do know an NROTC MIDN MO in DS's unit studied abroad one semester. He had to double up on Naval Science courses to make it happen.
