Your unit staff will have the answer to that, eventually. I would expect not though, as that would basically double the slots needed for this training and you will hopefully have your own 2/c cruise and maybe Sea Trials if that is still going to be a thing. The cost and logistics would seem to be prohibitive.Wonder if 3rd year (Current sophomores) will be able to experience this too? Since they missed out this summer, maybe they can join 4th year NROTC MIDN if it’s a go?

I just feel that it would be essential in getting a feel for the communities (even if it’s a shortened version of it due to budget, time or manpower restraints.Your unit staff will have the answer to that, eventually. Enjoyable, informative, enlightening, beneficial; yes. Essential; no. remember, only scholarship mids go to CORTRAMID even in normal years. Lots of mids have made service selections through the years without attending CORTRAMID. You will have briefs over the years in NROTC and likely visits from active duty officers from different communities, as well as unit staff in the various communities who you will learn from.I just feel that it would be essential in getting a feel for the communities (even if it’s a shortened version of it due to budget, time or manpower restraints.
Thanks for the information !
this Covid year has turned everything upside down. BUT,,,, Most grateful to be healthy and following protocols !!!Enjoyable, informative, enlightening, beneficial; yes. My unit is saying no- current MIDN 3/C will go on a 2/C cruise, perhaps Sea Trials. It seems that NETC is still working out the timing for that particular evolution.Wonder if 3rd year (Current sophomores) will be able to experience this too? I know I certainly made mine with no prior "real" exposure- I picked up Advanced Standing, expecting to go on 1/C cruise. Briefs and community leaders are great. Talk to the upperclass Mids about their experience. . I entered my unit wanting to do submarines- until I talked to Mids ahead of me and learned what "three section duty" meant. After that I talked to the aviators and learned what "mandatory crew rest" was.... aviation it is! (I kid I kid I joke I joke). Different community representatives are a great resource. Not going to CORTRAMID isn't a deal breaker. Just do your homework on the communities before you submit service preference.Lots of mids have made service selections through the years without attending CORTRAMID.
