When USNA ends ac year in May-June, are the mids allowed to leave all their "stuff" , such as winter uniforms, in Bancroft in a portion of the dorm that is not used for PS, do they bring it all home, or do they take it to their sponsor's house for the summer? Sorry if this sounds like a silly question, but I am new at this.

Lots of stuff will be stored in Bancroft. A few boxes of stuff will be taken home or store at sponsor's house. They have to make room for NASS, summer school attendees, summer camps, etc.

Lots of uniforms go to winter storage. During this time things like SDBs and FDBs get their new stripes. Mids are given a small cage In the basement of Bancroft to store some items. It usually doesn't fit all their stuff. Mids, if they have nice sponsors, put their stuff there or if close enough take it home.

Many will also go in together on a storage unit at one of many locations around Annapolis. They figure it out.

[emoji16] I'm headed into the Yard shortly for a day of A-N hoops. Met friends at Grump's Cafe and split a cat head biscuit. It's going to be a fine Naptown day.

With regard to "stuff," I say again, they figure it out. Teaches them some good skills, especially if they are in and out of the Yard over the summer and need various things or uniforms. A precursor to putting things in storage, getting ready for deployment, etc.

We limit our sponsor family to a max of two clearly labeled plastic storage boxes. We have had bad experiences with garbage bags of mildewing damp laundry, the infamous box that had apples in it, and unclaimed stuff. I still have one complete, freshly dry cleaned men's mess dress uniform, a set of service dress blue, plus shirts, hanging downstairs from a few years back. Anyone need 46L?? We text or email the mids pics of unclaimed stuff. They usually reply "not mine." One mid, a firstie, commented that she had lost her bridge coat over youngster summer, and had to borrow one ever since. I looked at her and told her to look in an unmarked box from 2 years ago, which all the mids had said "not mine." She came back upstairs with the OMG face, bridge coat in hand.
End of academic year can be a crazed flail in Bancroft.

Enjoy the unseasonably early summer day/weekend in Naptown, CAPT!

DS did not have much to store after his plebe year. Most of his stuff he stored in Bancroft and at the local home of a buddy. The rest of his gear he brought home in a huge green duffle bag - it's amazing how much stuff that thing can hold. He acquired/brought more stuff his youngster year and has already commented about renting a storage unit with his roommates.

End of Plebe year is the worst if you don't have local storage. Pounds and Pounds of Uniforms and gear issued all year. Every year after is much easier since they can select what they need for each semester. We used a SUV with a roof container year one and I still had a hard time out the rear view window.

I love you guys! We don't even have an appointment yet this is exactly the stuff I want to know. This kind of info is invaluable if you are a plebe parent. Probably the most important thing I've learned today and I didn't even know that I needed to know it! ⚓

My son is a 46L, but he will be Class of '22, will it still be there? [emoji28][emoji28]
