So today the Mids learned their summer blocks. My son will be attending Airborne Training at Ft. Benning (I know, it's not set in stone...Semper Gumby). I'm wondering if there's a proper graduation when they complete training. Are their three weeks of training different than the "regular" training? I'm asking here because my son tells me NOTHING. He's all about need to know! Thanks in advance.

Have you been to the Fort Benning website?
The 507th PIR conducts BAC (Basic Airborne Course) training over a 3-week period (Ground, Tower, and Jump) at the end of that 3-week training, he'll be a "5-jump-chump" and will graduate.

Go here, and select BAC training. Last year's schedule is posted, and there are photos, Mom! :)

If it's one thing your DS should remember is to keep his feet and knees together. If he can be the first out the door of his stick, then that's the best position to be. Finally, tell your son to always look at the horizon when he's at the door. Don't look down. It's scary what he might see. :)

Graduation date is fluid. It depends on when the class can complete all 5 jumps. They always do 1 jump on the first day. Then after that, it's based on aircraft availability and weather. Let's say, for example, they have 1 jump on Monday, 2 jumps on Tuesday, and 2 jumps on Wednesday. Graduation will be after the last jump on Wednesday or even Thursday or Friday. If weather is bad on Wednesday, then they will try to get the last 2 jumps on Thursday and then graduate them after that. If weather is bad on Monday and Tuesday, then they will try to get all the jumps in on Wednesday through Friday and graduate them as soon as the last jump is done.

GoCubbies, great info, you sound experienced ! Too bad my son won't take any advice from me, LOL.

Don't know many Mids that go to Benning for Summer Blocks. Most go Fleet, Subs or Air. Last I saw they did not "graduate" from Summer Block but if you jump you should get something. DD did Carrier, Jet Trainer and Boomer out of Kings Bay. Then the is always Cadre. If you do your first jump without going off the tower a few times you may get seriously injured.
