I'm not sure if I'm the only having trouble with this but I can't seem to access the SLE application. Does our candidate questionnaire need to be approved in order to apply?

I already completed the questionnaire and was received and ID and temporary password to login. But, once I reach my portal, there is no direct application to SLE except for the "documents and status" button which also requires a username and password, and my ID didn't work for the username.

Would really appreciate if someone could tell me what my next steps are or what i'm doing incorrectly, thank you!

If I remember correctly, the candidate questionnaire IS the SLE application. If you are admitted, you’ll receive an email from late February all the way up to April I believe.

Your candidate questionnaire serves as your application for SLE. I posted the link from the USMA website earlier today.

Now begins the wait and see. Also, reminder that acceptance or non acceptance to SLE has no bearing on selection for a future appointment.

Thanks for letting me know!

So USMA doesn't require essays or anything? It's purely based on stats and extracurriculars?

We are actually in the same boat, and I do believe there is more to fill out. Some people said they had a grey button they pushed after the questionnaire that said they were interested in the sle. They then got a message saying they would get more info in 24-48 hours. My son is contacting admissions to see what can be done since he didn't have that grey button on his page.

I believe there is a separate application portal for SLE. In the past, the candidate questionnaire alone was not the application for SLE. The portal for 2028 has only been open for a day and a half, so there may be some IT issues that will eventually be corrected.

This is the banner ds received when he clicked on the SLE button once he finished his CQ. He has not received anything yet (it has not been 24 hours). This is very similiar to what my older ds received when he applied 2 years ago. I suspect very little has changed in the last 2 years. DS#1 eventually received a login to the SLE portal which asked a couple of follow-up questions such as which sessions he could attend. Nothing in the SLE portal was actually an application. The application is the CQ. There was no essay.

As USMAZoo98 pointed out, the portal is less than 2 days old and the deadline for SLE is March 15th. Plenty of time to get this straightened out.

For those who didn't get the grey popup box to indicate interest in SLE (my son didn't either), this was in his portal today.

SLE Information
(1 Feb 2023) - If you are selected for SLE, you will recieve an email with login credentials to the SLE portal.

If you did not select "I'm Interested" in the SLE pop up after submitting the CQ, email your regional team to change your SLE status to "Interested." You can contact them via the "Contact Admissions" link on the left hand side.

Thank you for the info. We didn't have the grey banner, but I'm sure he will get the sle info soon. He will contact admissions.

One of my students followed-up in this manner and was notified that she is now considered as 'interested.'

I don't remember there being a SLE pop up after submitting my CQ but, I did reach out to the regional admissions team about not having received login info despite it being 24 hours. They responded that "there should be a separate email sent shortly" regarding the login info. How long should I wait before I reach back out to them? I just want to have the opportunity to do the application as soon as possible.

DS clicked the “interested in SLE” button. Received the banner to wait 24-48 hours for an email with login information to the SLE site. The 48 hours have passed. I can appreciate the email may be delayed as this just opened Feb 1 and DS is planning on waiting a few days to see if it arrives before contacting Admissions.
The part that has us confused though is in his portal it states, as others on this post have shared:
“SLE Information
(1 Feb 2023) - If you are selected for SLE, you will recieve an email with login credentials to the SLE portal.”
Trying to figure out if that verbiage is acknowledgment that he indicated SLE interest and we should await the Login email - or is that just auto fill language in the SLE field of the Portal and other candidates see the same verbiage in their portal even if they Did Not indicate SLE interest in CQ?

I believe I saw on the Field Force portal that candidates will receive log in credentials to the SLE portal "if" they are selected for SLE. So it appears that the candidate questionnaire is technically the application, and selections will be made from that info. The SLE portal opens up to a candidate if they are picked for SLE.

Closing loop on SLE. DS opened application and clicked SLE interest on Feb 1. Received an email today from USMA acknowledging his application and confirming he showed interest in SLE. Stated no further action was required at this time. Stated SLE acceptance will begin later this week thru March 31. If accepted, separate email will arrive with SLE in subject line and at that time the candidate would select their preferred session.

DS couldn't remember whether or not he clicked on the "Interested in SLE" option when he filled out CQ. Following the instruction posted on the portal, he sent a message requesting to change his status to "interested" but haven't heard any confirmation or acknowledgement since 2/1. What should DS do?

I heard that I got into SLE when I did a file review after a tour at westpoint. The admissions officer let me know as I was walking out that I had been accepted and a few weeks later I got an email.

Check his email/spam folder. My son just got an email stating that he has applied for SLE and will find out this week through March 31st if he is accepted. All he did was fill out the questionnaire and email admissions to make sure he was listed as "interested" in SLE.

Agreed. Reaching out to admissions always works. For the record, the question on interest in SLE didn't come up in the candidate questionnaire, rather, on the confirmation page that the questionnaire was submitted there was a grey button to select if you were interested in being considered for SLE. Once you clicked that you got a full screen confirmation that you said yes to being interested.

Same here! They did not respond over the weekend of course, but were very responsive this morning. The staff work regular hours, I would assume, so they would probably be active in the morning. @NCA I believe if your son got the email with the subject West Point Application yesterday he should be all set, or emailing admissions would work! Good luck to him.

This is exactly what happened with my DS, and today he received notification that he was accepted. He received a 2nd email (in his junk mail) instructing him to sign into the SLE portal (separate from the admissions portal) to choose his preferred dates and rank the academic workshops. It sounds like they will let him know which session he can attend at a later date.
