Summer Seminar 2014

My DS had great stats but did not get selected for summer seminar. However he did receive a full scholarship (including airfare) to SAME Engineering camp which was held for a week at the Air Force Academy this past summer. He got to work on different engineering projects each day as well as tour the Academy and all the facilities.

It's a great program and I would recommend it to anyone interested in military engineering.

SAME camp

DS attended SAME camp a few years ago. Definitely would recommend for any Engineers. Very good experience and on the campus with direct access to leadership and cadets who can tell you what cadet life is like.

Now that the application period is closed, when do you guys expect to hear anything?

Last year I was accepted to the summer seminar program on February 21st. I know there were a few days on either end in which people heard back. Also, my test scores at the time were very low (around 1490 I believe). I opted to submit my application without any scores.

The summer seminar was a fantastic program and made my decision about wanting to attend the academy. My advice would be If you are accepted, don't be shy! Meet new people and really experience everything they have to offer. If you aren't accepted, don't give up! The summer seminar is only there to encourage students to apply, not to discourage. Good luck to you all!

I've been accepted! Has anyone else received word? Also, which session do you plan on attending?

Session 2. Session 1 was during my finals

If you have any questions or concerns please let me know. I'll be one of the cadre working it this summer.

OOH! I'm so glad you offered!!! Can you give us a basic overview of what to expect? From what I have heard so far, this has a more fun "summer camp-y" feel to it then basic will have. Is that true? I have sort of been expecting that, while strict, it will still be relatively laid back for a military camp. Can you tell us about PT? How difficult is it? Also, is it true that we will be evaluated during the seminar, and that those evaluations will go into our admission files? About what percentage of kids who attend Summer Seminar get accepted to USAFA? Does it drastically improve our chances? Lastly, I know this is kind of a weird question, but do girls normally bring makeup to Summer Seminar? I wasn't really planning on it, but I thought maybe there might be an occasion where it would be nice to have, like the last dinner or something. Thank you SO much!
