I do know that it is rolling admissions so there is no real way to know when you might be accepted, but when is the earliest possible that you could get notification of acceptance? I submitted my application on Jan. 4th. In other words, when should I start really looking for an email? I still find myself checking my email a bunch anyway in particular for it, but my guess is they are nowhere near deciding who gets in.

I just wonder because if I do get in I would love to know the week I would be in for later applying to SLE at WP and also for the weeks I could work my summer camp job.

I guess you would probably be certain to find out around when the app. closes on March 31st, but just wondered about when people start finding out.

Also, I wouldn't know because I got into summer stem and that is my only application experience with them, but if you are not accepted will you be contacted any earlier than the application closing day?

Thanks

Last year I got my acceptance email on March 29th which I believe was right around when they started sending decisions out, if not the first round of decisions they sent out (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). But nobody knows if this year will be different.

If you want to attend USMA’s SLE (or USAFA’s SS), you don’t need to wait until you hear from one to apply to the other. Instead, if you get accepted to more than one and the dates overlap, you can request to change dates. It’s not guaranteed that they’ll say yes, but they do seem to accommodate as much as practical.

For example, DD was accepted to all three DOD SA summer experiences, with overlap. She quickly and politely emailed a couple to request changes, explaining that she wanted to attend all three to help her prioritize her applications. Both were accommodating, and she was able to attend three back to back to back. Exhausting, to be sure, but very enlightening.

My 3/C MID did NASS in 2019. He applied a few days after it opened and was accepted within a week. He said he'd go any week. As soon as he found out he got in, he requested to change weeks. He heard nothing for months and then they emailed him saying they changed to his preferred week. You never know til you ask.

Got into both SLE and Summer seminar on March 29 (summer seminar) and April 22 (SLE). It’s gonna be a little bit. I had both applications in in January. Don’t worry, it’ll come. It’s a good indicator as well of what you’ll experience this time next year when wiring on appointments, so don’t fret the waiting too much.

I think the deadline for USNASS 2021 app was early March. I submitted my app on January 3rd. I found out I received a Summer Seminar slot at the end of March. Be prepared to wait.
Even after I got my acceptance, they were still adjusting plans for an online vs. in-person week. I hope you won't have to have that issue this year, but if that is the case, be prepared to wait even more. I don't think they finalized things until mid-April(?). I also ended up requesting a slot change due to a family trip. If you do end up having to change your SS slot so you can work or attend SLE/USAFASS, I recommend communicating with coordinators (super friendly) early in order to maximize your chances of getting a slot that works for you.
Otherwise, if it's between working at summer camp and going to SS, I would go to SS (as long as it's in-person).
If you are selected and are concerned about missing out on a week of stacking your resume with work experience over the summer, I'd recommend explaining that you were selected to staff summer camp but chose USNASS.

Ultimately, while USNASS is a great experience and is certainly worth applying for, I'd focus your efforts on preparing for the application itself and treating SS as a treat/checkpoint while working towards strengthening your PCQ and building relationships with teachers who are gonna write your rec letters. Meanwhile, you should use this waiting period as preparation for the waiting you'll likely have to endure after you finish your actual application which is considerably worse haha.

Good luck!

Our DS attended summer STEM and that cemented his USNA dreams.
He applied to summer seminar and was denied. He thought it was a setback to his candidacy. It wasn’t.

If you are not selected don’t skip a beat and keep moving forward. Find another way to tour the Yard.
