Summer Seminar Apps Open Dec.1

My son went last year. He had his application in by early January and received e-mail notification of an offer to attend on Feb. 1. Had he gotten it in earlier, he probably would have heard in January. When he got the offer, there was a link to connect to a site where he had to accept or decline and was given a 2 week window to do so. If not, it said the spot could be given to someone else. On that site, which I thought was interesting, it showed how many spots were still open for each week (there were 3 last year) and each time you went to the site, you could see it counted down as people were accepting the offer. You do get to choose which week, but for my son there was only one possibility because he didn't finish HS final exams until the end of the second week, so third week it was!

For those of you who go, it will be a fabulous experience! My son loved every minute of it. You'll be better off if you are in shape, as they do a lot of the activities that will be on the fitness test when you apply to go to the AF Academy. My son also came home with a boatload of AF items they handed out that week--t shirts, shorts, windbreaker, cinch sack, water bottles, etc. A great experience and I would recommend it for anyone who is considering the AF Academy!

You guys are darn lucky who got your PSAT scores in December. My school won't give them out until January 25. I asked my counselor for them and she said if she does it then she'll get parents calling her let and right.

So I had to send in my Soph PSAT scores. 1810. I'm thinking no SS for me haha.

My score was a 163. So dont be too upset  you can always update your profile when you get the scores. I am lucky, because i took the december 4th sat,and december 11 act..hopefully these scores are much better then the psat. I also hear that the first board for summer seminar acceptances meets on February 1st,and they "review" applications then. so you have time.

Does anyone know how to access their class rank and class size numbers? I am currently working on my SS Application and I don't know where to find this info.

Thanks,

Chris

FFalcon16, Talk to your school guidance counselor.

My son's high school would release the information. They don't want to do it for a variety of purposes, one of which is they don't want to pit parents and students against each other. I can understand but I don't think they've thought this policy through. My son had to submit his app for this year's SS without his class rank.
