I am applying to USNA Class of 2026. I applied to the Naval Academy's Summer Seminar on January 5th. I understand that applications close March 31st. Will decisions be sent out by April? Or when can we expect to hear back?

According to USNA Admissions on their Instagram Page, they said "Summer Seminar applicants will be notified via email by no later than April 15."

However, I am not sure when they will release candidate numbers to candidates.

Hope this helped!

Well...there it is. Bummer. Also for plebes and upperclass who would be in person detailers. Not surprising, not unexpected.
that is a bummer for all the kids wanting to attend live, but I will tell you that my DD LOVED her virtual summer seminar experience - I know it would have been a million times better in person but she really loved it and has kept up with her group they chat all the time!! They even did practice CFA virtual. I am sure this summer USNA will make it even better based on what they learned last summer!

Applications still close the end of March. Hopefully people will hear soon after.

Yep, bummer for all involved. But I'm sure USNA will still put on a quality virtual program for both groups. I have a hopeful STEM camper waiting to hear status. Fully understand why they can't bring a bunch of students onto the Yard this summer. Still hoping for some version of Ring Dance and graduation for 2021!

Thanks @USNAhopeful2025 for sharing. It is great to hear your DD had a positive virtual experience. Trying to focus on the potential upside, maybe this will allow USNA to increase the number of participants so more prospective applicants can experience NASS.

You will get your official candidate number once you receive your official candidate packet online. Last year bc of Covid my DD did not receive this until late July. In normal years they go out in may from what I have read.
What qualifies you to receive a candidate number? I know that the other academies have to deem you "competitive" before you are able to even start the actual application process but is Navy the same way? I just recently got a much higher ACT score (30) than what I had originally put on the SS application (27) I'm concerned that my original score will deem me uncompetitive.

It seems that many on this forum who took part in last summer's virtual program also received appointments. (No I don't have any real statistics, just observations based on the comments I've seen on SAF). My DS only had a 26 on the ACT by that time so did not even get an invite to attend. Of course it's disappointing that it won't be taking place in person, but if invited to attend, I would say ATTEND! Good luck to all USNA SS and STEM candidates!

There is an unknown minimum standard to be considered an "Official Candidate" and receive a Candidate number. No one really knows what it is, and I suspect its is somewhat flexible. That said, a 27 ACT should be well above that minimum, but can't hurt to submit your new scores.
(As an aside, there was no preliminary screen last year -- all Applicants were given Candidate Numbers because of concerns about taking SAT/ACT when COVID hit. I have not seen any guidance on how this will be handled this year.

> There is not necessarily any correlation between attending NASS and getting an Appointment.

My son found out he was accepted today. Hopefully emails are going out!

Found out that I got given a slot too, I believe that they're starting to do rolling acceptances as the application portal is not yet closed.

My daughter got her acceptance today.

There is new copy on the UNSA Summer Programs page that says "Important News: Application remains open until midnight (EST) on March 31, 2021. Selection notifications have begun to go out via email and will continue to be sent between now and the end of April. If you have applied, please continue to monitor your email inbox as well as SPAM folder, etc."

This language wasn't there yesterday so I assume the first batches of admissions went out today and will continue for the next month on a rolling basis. Good luck!

I just got my acceptance letter an hour ago! Good luck!

I just got accepted this afternoon and my ACT was only a 26. (I just got a new score of 29) so you should be fine.
