copy of birth certificate ... does that indicate COPY as in copier or COPY as in official, state issued. Forums for other academies and ROTC.. many answers..

We never needed the OFFICIAL birth certificate until the day we dropped him off (And he had to take the official BC, SS card, etc) Copies were simply xerox copies of the original.

If you're referring to the appointment acceptance process, they specifically ask for original birth certificate and original SS card to be sent. No copies. Documents will be returned when you report for Swab Summer. We just did this in December.

It feels weird to be sending in originals, but it is what they want.
Yes, I remember feeling a bit anxious when I put my cadet's birth certificate in the mail. My older child was born in VA, and we were able to order more than one original birth certificate for her, but my cadet was born overseas, and they will only give you one. We used priority mail with tracking so at least we knew when it was delivered. My cadet got everything back on day 1.

If you live close by you can also drop in person to show the originals and they take a xerox and give back the originals immediately. We did that yesterday since DD was there for the AEP Program.
