Does anyone know if basics are allowed to wear sunglasses during BCT? I wear glasses so would I be allowed to wear Transitions or prescription sunglasses?

During BCT you will be issued glasses when you arrive. I would suggest wearing those since they are almost indestructible. Transitions and prescription sunglasses are not permitted during BCT due to training requirements. Hope this helps.

Its highly unlikely (as in I've never seen it done) that you will be allowed to have sunglasses during BCT. In BCT 1, cadre will want to see your eyes (ie: where you are looking & where you're not supposed to look). In BCT 2 - think mud.

Both of the above messages are correct. No sunglasses during BCT and your issued BCGs will not have transition lenses. It’s also important to know that sunglasses are not permitted to be worn while in formation. So unless a cadet had eye surgery recently, they can’t even wear them while marching for NMF so technically transition lenses aren’t allowed then either. HOWEVER, I know a few cadets who wear them anyway and since they are prescription lenses no one really gives them any problems.

Last piece of advice :: Squinting reduces the noticeable affects of smiling. Do with that what you will.
