I remember seeing threads on here about this before, but could someone rehash any info on what the odds might be of a candidate with an LOA but no MOC nominations receving a Supe's nom?

A lot of that may depend on how hard you tried to get the nom. If you applied to all your available sources and listed WP as number 1 in each instance, I think they will try much, much harder to get you a nomination from somewhere (whether a Supe's nom or something else). If you had WP down as number 2 or 3, and/or only applied to some of those sources, I think your odds will be significantly lower.

I don't think anyone can give you actual "odds" since so much of it comes down to how much they want you and what the other candidates you're competing against look like.

But I'd say if you applied for those noms, your odds are very good.

Yeah I applied to the VP, both senators, and my MOC, with USMA as the #1 for all of them, and didn't get a nom to WP, or any academy for that matter.

I thought I remember reading what somebody said about there being 50 supe noms each year though. Looks like thats my only hope.

One more thing though, say if I did manage to get a supe's nom, about how long would it take to find out anything about it? Would it not be untile April or so before I found out?

Wow - that seems amazing, especially with the LOA! The MALO information I have certainly makes it sound like if you don't get a nomination, but did all you could, that WP will find one for you. I don't know how true this is, but it will be interesting to see (well, for me! For you it's probably just stressful!).

I'm almost thinking you may not know who the nomination comes from, but may just at some point get an appointment. Sorry I don't know the timeline, but would be sure it wouldn't be until February at least when they know for sure (MOC noms are due 1/31) that you haven't gotten one from the MOC. Doesn't Sen. Hutchinson still have some that aren't accounted for? I thought people had said she usually announced about half of hers early (which are the ones you saw back in Nov here) and the other half as of 1/31. Or has her officer told you you won't get one?

Best of luck to you and I might call your RD if I were you and just make sure they're aware of where you stand on noms and try to encourage them to help you out!

Well, I emailed Hutchison's office to see if I could find anything out, but never got a reply. But I do have a friend of the family who's a retired Colonel and knows Hutchison, and he talked to her coordinator about my status, and told me I wasn't going to get one.

I've got an interview with my MALO this Tuesday, and he's going to go over what to do next with me. Hopefully that should help.

Good luck and if you can, please let me know what you find out and what happens in the long run. We're new to this MALO'ing thing, and I hate to be giving anyone any false hopes if they're not really the case!

Well, I had my interview with the RD today and he said that he was surprised by my situation too, but that he doesn't really have much say with the superintendent nomination, but the lady in charge of coordinating them would probably do her best to help get me one. He did want me to remember though not to get my hopes too far up on that, and to also wait on the VP nom, even though its probably a long shot. Also, he said my MOC hadn't submitted his list in yet, so that could still change. Ill just have to keep my fingers crossed.
