During the Parents Association Zoom Hail and Farewell today they said the plan is to spread out the cadets arrival based on platoons. Each platoon will have a 90 minute slot. Each cadet can have 2 guests on base with them. They will drop off their belongings at Chase Hall, then parents will drop them off at Roland Hall, then parents will park and have a briefing. We will then see our cadets again for a 5 minute goodbye and have a quick chance to visit the store. All of that is within the 90 minute slot. The 2 guests is based on Connecticut's rules on gatherings due to COVID19 right now. Guests need to be gone within the 90 minutes because the next platoon of cadets and their parents will be coming on base. Time slots will start at 6:30am on July 8th.
With a delayed start, is Swab Summer still a 7-week program? We haven't received any direct email from the Academy regarding Day one being postponed.
@ProudMom7USCGA seems to use Facebook for lots of communication. If your child is accepted, they should join the 2024 cadet page, and you should join the USCGA parents 2024 page and the Coast Guard Academy Parents Association page. That is where we have gotten information on delays. First they said some time the week of July 6th and then later they gave the specific date of July 8th.
