I am a very bad swimmer, but I have been practicing since I got out of school. However, I'm still not confident that I'll pass the swim test during beast. Is it possible to not take the test at all and just get placed into rock swimming? Also, how is rock swimming?

They have a separate swim for people who know they can't swim well. Don't worry about something that doesn't matter at all.

You need to work on your water confidence. It will be very important to pass combat survival swim, required, for graduation. You will need to jump from a platform and swim with full gear.
