Any tips on learning how to tread water? This may sound crazy, but I can comfortably swim but I cannot tread water. Also will goggles be allowed when swimming at USNA? I can open my eyes underwater but I definitely prefer goggles.

I recommend going to the edge of the pool to hang with your arms on the ledge while you practice the leg rotation motion for egg beater. If you don't know what it is, use this video, its what I used to learn. Egg beater is a great tactic for treading with or without arms depending on what you are looking to do in the pool. I highly recommend it. Goggles will be issued to you for use over plebe summer and the instructors will give you "practice" during the swim periods to work on your treading before you have to take plebe swim.
