Switch ROTC Scholarship to a different school

How long does it take to switch an AROTC scholarship from one school to another? Is it likely that the switch will be granted? DS has all but settled on a great school with a strong ROTC program, but it was not on his list for the scholarship. My guess was he should start the process through the portal, and contact leadership at the school he is choosing to expedite the process? May 1st deadline is coming quick! Any suggestions/advice would be great!

Don’t guess...have your son go on the application portal and read the information about requesting a transfer in the additional information tab.

What he should be doing yesterday is sending an email to Cadet Command requesting to transfer his scholarship. The email should explain why he desires to attend the school and join the program at his school of choice. He should attach his letter of acceptance and a denial letter if he got one from the school he accepted his scholarship to. That’s all there is to it. The sooner he requests, the sooner he will know. Can’t say what his chances are, because there are a lot of variables to the process. Some folks are going to chime in about cost or what Brigade or how much room there is in the gaining program, but all of that is part of the equation and you won’t know until you request.

And you are correct about talking to the gaining and losing program to let them know what is up.
