My son is going to an information session this morning and it is being held on a Tall Ship in the Harbor. I am accompanying him so I get to do it too!

I was telling my husband last night that even though this wasn't a journey I expected to be on, it has been so eye opening, so educational and so informative.

Just seeing and knowing how very much is required to simply complete an application to the academies has made me develop mad respect for the applicants who finish the process to compete for a slot.

Being a parent is such a privilege!

As a HS Junior - an extended family member got my son a chance to sail on the Eagle for @ 2 weeks - the relationships he made and the activities he participated in changed his life ... he was full steam to Annapolis until he came home - he is now completing his acceptance process to the CGA. good luck ... if he is truly interested - Go to a Bear Day ... apply to AIM ... engage the admissions officers ...

Thanks cjrogg! His application is in for CGA and we are crossing our fingers! He enjoyed the information session, has been in contact with his AO and is going to a daytime Cadet for a Day program in December. He really wanted to go to an overnighter, but wasn't able to get set up before they were full. :(
