Tape Test

My son also did not pass the physical fitness test at the begining of cbt this summer. He took the cfa three times prior to going to WP (one of these times was during SLE so he was at WP and the other two times there were WP reps at the gym overseeing the cfa) and passed each time (and improved in different categories each time). What surprised him is that they had a different standard for some of the exercises (for example- there was a different standard for pull-ups. The three times he took the cfa, he only had to clear the bar and then go back down. During cbt, he was required to go above the bar, wait a bit and then could go back down so you'd lose momentum each time). The sit up were also done differently than how he'd done them for the cfa. So a difference in standards can also result in not passing, esp if you practiced a different way in preparation for cbt.

My son assumed that the way it was done for the cfa was the way it would be done during cbt.

It may not be anything new, but I did read on this forum pretty extensively and I did not come across any mention of it. So, it came as quite a surprise.
No wonder so many didn't pass - they may simply have trained to a different standard and so were unfamiliar with what was expected. They may very well have passed the first time had they understood in advance what was expected of them.

They will all get used to the tried and true "high zero"s that DPE doles out. The standards on form for PT tests and DPE classes were ridiculously high when I was there. Sounds like some things never change.
