Tattoo at the Citadel

I attended the Tattoo in 2010 when the Regimental Band and Pipes performed, very impressive show and well worth the trip if you ever get a chance. The Royal Nova Scotia Tattoo in Halifax is also excellent.

We were able to attend the Tattoo in Edinburgh in 2019. My son is a piper and is very interested in a military college or SA and wants to continue piping in college. Citadel is ranking high on his list for this reason, and USMA of course. He would love the opportunity to pipe at the Tattoo!

El Cid was the first military school to have a bagpipe band (1955) and everybody eventually copied them. Jim Dillahey '01 is a great guy and fantastic Pipe Band Director, your son could not have a better teacher and mentor.

Good show and precise direction by Major (South Carolina unregulated militia) Dillahey. Hope travel restrictions are lifted soon so they can get back out there.
Side note: Texas A&M’s band is phenomenal and definitely worth seeing as well! If being in a band is a major consideration for your son or daughter, the Citadel, Texas A&M, and Virginia Tech are great SMC options. Both Texas A&M and Virginia Tech have large bands that do not disappoint at football games, parades, etc. All are definitely worth seeing!
