hey everyone,
okay so im new to the forums and have some questions regarding the teacher recommendations. i am extremely confused. i have filled out my preliminary app on the site, filled out my sports questionaire, and contacted a senator for a nomination. the information was sent over to me about the requirements he asks. one of them is 3 teacher recommendations. now i have been reading on the web for awhile and discovered that these must be done online? how do i go about doing this? and are these online recommendations different from the ones my senator asks for? can they be the same? any answers are very appreciated im runnning out of time. the only thing helping me is that all these important people are extending my deadline because our teachers are currently on strike. anyone have answers?

I believe you're getting two types of recommendations confused. USNA requires three ONLINE teacher evaluations that are sent by e-mail from USNA to your respective teachers. That is for the application to USNA. For being nominated by an MOC, if he's seeking three teacher recoomedations, he probabaly means handwritten ones-letters of recommendation. The service academies(USMA, USNA, ect) are the only places I know that do online teachers evaluations.

By the way, if you are confused call your senator office and tell him your problem, they'll work it out. Ask him your questions. Hope that helps.

thanks alot. do you happen to know how the online evaluations work so i can inform my teachers ahead of time? and one more thing i forgot to say: i understand the teachers must be math and english teachers preferably from 11th grade. my math teacher went on maternity leave and no longer is affliliated with my school, but my former grade school english teacher-turned religion teacher wants to be one of my choices. she has known me since 6th grade throughout HS. could i use her instead?

Wow, your situation is very unique. The only advice for the religion/teacher English is call west point admissions and ask them. There's no other way. Make sure you get your chemistry/physics(whichever one) teacher for online evaluations too.

About the teacher evaluations, they work like this. You go on to the USMA canddate website(have to be a candidate) and give the contact information about your teachers(name, phone, ect.). Before you do this, let them know about the evaluations and let them know that they will be e-mailed by USNA(or any other academy). This e-mail will have the evaluation form on it. The teachers will fill it out online, and send it back. Make sure they stop their spam filters, just in case. Hope that helps man, gotta go. Later.

Stay in close contact with your teachers and make sure they receive the form from the Academy to fill out.....some, actually quite a few high school's firewalls will not allow this email in. We had to get personal emails from the teachers, registrars at our school. Also, they want an upper level English teacher as they have seen your writing skills as a junior in high school. Any way you can track that pregnant English teacher down and use her? Son followed his counselor to another school to get her recommendation. It is not that uncommon for the teacher they want to have moved and no longer be at your school. I think you should try to contact her and explain.
