Tech Major and Rated?

Good Morning,
I'm currently an AFROTC cadet with a type 7 scholarship majoring in physics. I've been struggling to find information on the subject of how a major affects your AFSC. I've heard either, "it doesn't" or, "USAF will find a need to fill with a tech major". Does anyone have experience with a tech major affecting the application for a rated slot? I know TPS requires a tech major so someone somewhere must be flying with a physics degree!

The only thing your major does as far as AFSC is open doors such as a physics degree allows you to be a physist while others do not have that option. As far as rated it does not matter if your physics or underwater basket weaving. They do not even take it into account.
