Test Scores for SLS?

Alright, so still no email. I contacted the tech guy at school and he says that the school email has not blocked the email with the spam filter, so if it was sent, it would have gone through. I called the admissions office today and talked to someone about it.

She said that my application was complete and confirmed my email address, but she does not know why the email was not sent, nor could they send another. She did however give me my ID # so I can login on the SLS website.

My question is, will this lack of email cause me some serious trouble down the road?

I didn't include anything in the remarks section... I emailed admissions a couple of times with more specifics on my club roles.

I'm in the same boat as quite a bit of yall. I applied at 8am on 14 December. I noticed after I completed the SLS app that I didnt submit GPA, which the USMA website said was required. I called Admissions and they told me to call back in 24 hours being that they didnt know what to do abt the problem. I called this morning(15 December) and they said to send my transcript. I sent it about 30 mins later through my guidance dept. The lady said im good to go and my SLS app is completed. Now I just hurry up and wait!

p.s. did anyone notice how the GPA requirement to be submitted was taken off the usma website?

My college guidance department suggested that I submit my transcript to all the summer programs I was applying to, I'm glad they did.

I guess instead of changing the application they changed the main page. Whatever works, I suppose.

I finally got an email from USMA after I submitted my course preferences. I guess the initial one just didn't click in their servers.

Do you know specifically how your hs sent in your transcript? Should I just give them my candidate info and they will do it?

my hs has a form you fill out and then guidance just sends ur transcript to the college of your choice. took about 5 mins to fill out and get it sent. this was before I(or the lady I spoke to at USMA) knew that GPA wasn't required, so I don't think it's necessary to send in your transcript...but whatever you decide to do is your decision.

I want to send my gpa because it may off set my 1710 SAT, but would they accept if I send it by the update message from the portal?

I'm no expert on the process, heck im just beginning to jump into it myself, but it couldn't hurt. I have read that USMA looks at class rank a lot more though. Also I have read that some people got the SLS acceptance letter dated the day after they sent in their app, so your acceptance letter may be in the mail as we speak and sending your transcript could be redundant. As always, YMMV

Have you heard of rejection letters coming in soon also?

can't say I do. But if acceptance letters are sent out, then I don't see why rejection letters aren't sent out as well. Maybe one of the more experienced members of the forum can enlighten us?

I agree that last year I remember acceptance letters in December, but no rejection letters until much later - a lot of "I haven't heard anything" though! Although, especially with SLS, I'd think that some people who'd get a rejection letter wouldn't be likely to come back to this forum and report it! But I do think (like regular admissions) that they give acceptances out throughout the process, but not rejections until the end unless you obviously don't meet the standard.

This is kind of off topic, but does anyone know what intramural sports are offered at SLS? If i were accepted, i don't think my swim coach would be too happy with me missing a week of practice... So i guess a better question would be, Would there be pool access?

Because it operates on a rolling admissions system, should you constantly update your profile with any new awards you receive? Will they automatically reconsider your application or should you simply reapply once you have updated your profile?

Last year at the second session of SLS, there were about 3 kids who were in swimming who were able to go to the pool everyday. So, I think as long as you contact West Point early enough and let them know that you need pool access, it shouldn't be a problem.

These scores are not that competitive for SLS or the Academy?

SAT- 580M, 570V, 560W
PSAT - 61M, 65V, 48W

I will be taking the ACT in February and SAT in March.
Any suggestions on how to improve and would getting 650 in all sections from March deem me a lot more competitive?

Thanks!

Hey Bobby, I'm a swimmer too and I just finished my SLS application! I'm glad you asked because I was worried about missing swim practice too.

Hey Wang93. Maybe we'll end up practicing together!... but i have another question; I didn't include other information, such as GPA and other academic awards. I feel like this should be something that should be on my application. Is it too late to contact addmissions, or is it even neccesary? If it is not too late, what would be the best method of contact?

They do not mix and match. But i do advise you taking the SAT again. im a senior getting ready to go and my SAT is 650 CR 660 W 670 M. so keep taking. i took it five times.
