Texas A&M Cadet Sniper Teams compete in grueling 2019 Mammoth Sniper Challenge

“On Sunday, January 6, 2018, at Ft Gordon, Ga., three cadet two-man sniper teams from the [Texas Aggie] Corps of Cadets Marksmanship Unit (CCMU) completed the 3 day, 30 mile, Mammoth Sniper Challenge placing 3rd, 6th and 24th shooting against professional military sniper teams from every branch of the US Armed Forces.

CCMU cadets fired Bergara Premier Elite rifles, mounted with Leopold Mk5 optics and Magpul magazines, Orr Tactical Ammunition, Atlas Bipods and Kahntrol Solution muzzle brakes. Two team rifles were mounted in MagPul Pro Chassis and all long guns were supported by Kopfjager Industries’ outstanding Reaper Grip and tripod. Rangefinders were provided by Vectronix. Glock 34s firing Orr Tactical ammunition ran perfectly in the most adverse conditions.

“God hates the Mammoth Sniper Challenge,” remarked a cadet at the end of the first of three days of the event. Close to 90 teams started the match, by the morning of the second day there were 22 fewer…carrying rucks weighing 75 to 80 pounds on the first day in 50 degree temps, the cadets covered over ten miles on the clock in a constant downpour while firing three different rifle/pistol events along the way. …”

Corps of Cadets Marksmanship Unit hosts TYAS Southwest Regional Championship

"The Corps of Cadets Marksmanship Unit (CCMU) and the Corps of Cadets hosted the 6th annual Southwest Championship competition, sponsored by Glock, last Saturday. Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) matches are available nationwide to SASP teams with students who vary in age from 5th grade to shooters from prestigious college programs. Texas Youth Action Shooting (TYAS) was created in 2016 to develop and grow SASP participation in Texas. With 178 competitors from across the Lone Star State, this year’s event was the largest match of its kind held in Texas, and one of the largest held in the history of the fast-growing national sport.

The match weekend began on Friday evening with over 350 attendees being welcomed to the campus. Notable attendees included 20 cadets from the United States Air Force Academy’s Combat Shooting Team. Competitors and their families enjoyed a Texas BBQ, provided at no charge by TYAS and the Texas State Rifle Association (TSRA) Foundation. Saturday’s matches began with a firing demonstration of the Spirit of ’15 cannon by the Cadet Corps’ own Parsons Mounted Cavalry. ..."

Speaking from the point of view of a reloader, they could really level the playing field if they worked up their own loads for their specific rifles.
That is, unless Orr does that for them? The folks at Orr know what they are doing when it comes to ammunition manufacturing - and they will make up custom loads in any quantity - for a price.
Do you know if the Corps of Cadets gets this kind of special treatment from Orr? Orr is run by Vets, so maybe they give them a deal?

I will guarantee that everyone from the armed forces they are shooting against - are working up their own loads and getting every round exactly the same - down to the gnat's eyebrow. ;)
